Capellea University = Earn your degree from home

The following blog post is based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com.

When you think about the internet, you probably think about myspace, email, chatting, online banking, and even online gaming. But, you probably don't think about school. Unless you are thinking about an internet class, maybe. Well, now, somebody is changing that. Somebody named capella university. They are taking the world of online education by storm...and pretty much creating it.

Back in 1993, the founder of Capella had a dream...so they founded that dream. And now, Capella is a completely accredited online university. They are accredited which means they are legitimate. Your education will be considered valid if you earn your degree through them.

Just like a regular college, they offer a plethora of graduate online degree programs. Programs you would major in if you were at your local, physical university. Programs like business, information technology, education, human services, public health, public safety, psychology, and bachelor's degree programs in business, information technology, and public safety. Those are great programs if you ask me. I mean, sure, they don't have a broadcasting program...but I'm sure they'll figure that out with webcam technology and blogging at some point.

And if you want a more intricate description of those programs, well, here you go: Within those areas, they have 104 graduate and undergraduate specializations. And Capella also has 15 areas of certification. That sounds like a legitimate university to me. It sounds like the future of higher learning. Especially, if you live in Los Angeles like me. Can you imagine the time that saves? Currently serving almost 20,000 students from all 50 states and 56 different countries, Capella shows no signs of slowing down! Old age is not a problem when you are an online university--it's a validation. And they are pursuing business growth. They want to grow, while helping you grow. They provide high-caliber academic excellence. They will completely change the way you think/feel/look at education. And you will learn, folks...if you sign up for classes.

"Who owns them though?" asks the nerdy, pissed off dude in the front of the classroom who thinks he knows more about the world than me? Well, sir, they are owned by Capella Education Company of course. Their headquarters are in Minneapolis. If you want to find out more, be my guest and click on the link above.

Breaking Bad is not that good

I'm a fan of Mad Men, so my whole week is focused on getting to AMC's Breaking Bad which debuts this upcoming Sunday. AMC scored a couple Golden Globes with Mad Men, let's see if they can repeat the success. On face value Breaking Bad is more interesting than anything the Big Four have planned for us. We'll see!

Late night is troubling me lately since NBC and Comedy Central aren't posting their guests into the news feeds or their websites I have no idea who's appearing so therefore I can't report on it. I guess the strategy is to keep it mysterious as a way to get people to tune in to find out who will be there. I do have to say that Conan's Wednesday interview/profile of Late Night associate producer Jordan Slansky was absolutely hilarious and is my vote for the late night (across all channels) segment of the week. I can't believe it. Well, you betta believe it!

Golden Globe update

I used to worry that the Golden Globes were getting too long and too drunk. Though the cancellation of Golden Globes ceremony forced the Hallmark Channel to grudgingly call off its annual after-party, considered by many to be the most debauched in all of Hollywood (2006's orgy honoring Meet the Santas is still spoken of in hushed tones for the five overdosing Saint Nicks who had to be removed from a single bathroom stall at the Riot Hyatt), Globes nominee and A Grandpa for Christmas star Ernest Borgnine decided he would still try and salvage what fun he could from the wreckage of the evening, hosting an intimate gathering at his home. Cool. I heard he is banging Usher's cousin too!

Online education is the key to Dr. L's career

You too can get an online phd. Isn't that amazing?

Dr. Christopher Lucies. The name alone is amazing. It can, and will, emit secretions of potpourri from the gaseous substances in your flatulence. That's how amazing of a name it is. But now, there is even more meaning behind it. It's an actual person. And they work in Capella University's Human Services department, and they were just named president-elect of the Texas Mental Health Counselors Association! Congratulations D.C.L!

Capella is an accredited, online university in Minneapolis, MN. Dr Lucies teaches CACREP(the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) counseling education and counseling studies programs in the online university’s School of Human Services. He was recently elected in September. So, besides wanting to congratulate him, I'm sure you are wondering also what that means. Okay, well, it means he will serve a 3 year term, divided into 3 parts. The first year is as president. The second year is as a consultant. And then the third year is the kicker! He gets to be a consultant to the TMHCA board! He'll organize board meetings, organize the association's yearly conference, mentor other board members, consult on issues that are ethical, speak publicly, and advocate. Sounds like a pretty sweet gig to me, dog. But it goes even deeper than that! Dr. L hopes to work toward completely and deliberately refining the LPC licensure title in the state of TX, to better show the roles of mental health counselors! [Insert football metaphor here!] He wants to increase membership too; which will create opportunities for all members to become involved within the association! Sweet! He's excited about this.

But did you know that Capella University is the first and as of now, only online university that has received official accreditation from CACREP from two master's degree specializations? Yup, that's right. I didn't say CACRAP. I said CACREP!

If you want to know more about Capella, you can check past blogs of mine, or look below:

They were founded in 1993 and are an accredited, fully online university that offers graduate degree programs in business, information technology, education, human services, psychology, public health, and public safety, and bachelor’s degree programs in business, information technology, and public safety. That's a lot of areas for a degree! And also within those areas, they offer 104 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 15 certificate programs! More than 20,000 students from all 50 states and 56 countries are served by the university and they are a subsidiary of Capella Education Company in Minneapolis. It's blatantly apparent that they are stupendous. So check them out, or act like a draft-dodger.

He's wearing a c-sucker suit

Dr. Phil visited Britney Spears this week. Who cares? Nobody should. I'll tell you about it, but seriously, if you can control yourself, don't read it. That's how much i care about your own mental health: I don't want you to read my blog if you want to be a better person.

“I went to see Britney at the request of her family,” says Dr. Phil. He talked to her parents and brother, and they were frustrated that she wouldn’t be held longer at a hospital.

“My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her.”

Stay tuned for a “very special episode” of Dr. Phil this week.

A car in the middle of the street? Come on B. Spears.

Britney Spears’ white Mercedes has been impounded according to L.A. police said. She was a silly billy and left her car in the middle of the road because of a flat tire. Wonkers!

“Ms. Spears’ car was impounded,” Police Lt. David Grimes says. “Officers on the scene told me it was blocking the roadway and that it was unsafe enough to leave at the location.” Zonkerz!!!

Spears is unlikely to be blamed for the traffic her car caused because it was disabled, but she would still have to pay the fees. After she left the car, Spears was given a ride by some of the photographers who had been following her. Boooiiinnnggg! Can you believe it!? Hey-oh! Celebrity gossip makes me have wet dreams when I'm awake! Blam-o!

Flowers...for a wedding? Yes!

A lot of times wholesale roses suck. Not in this case.

FiftyFlowers.com is easy and won't break your piggy bank. They specialize in wedding flowers. This I know. They can hook up your wedding event big time. They have various types of roses--like: premium roses, calla lilies, rose petals, gerbera daisies, hydrangeas, peonies and many other flowers and greens!

But how are they delivered? Well, at below wholesale cost and with the least fuss possible! How else would they be delivered? Duh! They have varieties of bulk flowers that they carry for all occasions. This includes premium bouquets, table arrangements, centerpieces, and wedding flower packages...just to name a few. To point out, this is different from local florists. Local florists buy their flowers from importers and wholesalers who keep the flowers in freakin' coolers for multiple days! But, these guys use overnight express to ship to the customer! Flower wholesalers cut the stems and put the flowers in water to re-hydrate them, and then the local florist can retails flowers that are actually hydrated and open. That doesn't sound that great to me. Does it sound good to you? I didn't think so. They don't do this, so don't worry about it. They remove the wholesaler and retailer from the flower supply chain. That saves up to 75% on the flower cost for you customers! Now, I know this is sounding good to you. It is sounding good to me too.

Well, Liza Roeser Atwood is a founder and chief executive officer. Want to hear what she has to say? Well, you don't need to, but she says all good things!

The traffic on this site over the years has just gone up and up. The same has happened to wedding costs. The average cost of a wedding is $28,000. Can you believe that? That's a lot of money. So special treatment and personalized consultations to brides who need help has been happening for FiftyFlowers. And the cost of shipping these flowers is included in the wholesale prices. They can be ordered in large or small quantities. Awesome.

They even offer wedding flower packages that are beautifully arranged at their flower facility according to your custom order! It's like a Wedding in a Box! They get 23 pieces...and this includes bridal bouquet, bridesmaid bouquet, corsages, boutonnieres, and table arrangements. The focal flower, accent flowers and greens are chosen by the bride. That's what I'm talking about! The experts step in when they need to, but otherwise, the bride runs the show! Dang!

They have been doing this for almost ten years. They deliver the best quality, freshly cut flowers directly from their farms in Ecuador, Columbia, and other locations, to you. They send these flowers everywhere. Now you have to be the one to order them. It's a good idea, trust me.

Primaries ya'll!

Iowa and New Hampshire, much maligned as they are, have the advantage of being retail politics states that are difficult to purchase. Not so South Carolina and Nevada--and certainly not New York, Florida and California. The only thing that will win those states is money and effort on the ground. Lots of it.

If you still believe that Edwards and Kucinich can positively affect this race and truly fight on in a way that matters, I strongly encourage you to give. Give until it hurts. And donate your time.

Those of you who, like me, believe in the transformative potential of Barack Obama's campaign--or even those of you who believe that he's the only one who can stop the DLC from getting its ugly claws back on the White House--know what you have to do.

If you care about this country and its future, these opposition candidates need your money. If you live in one of the Super Tuesday states, but especially and more importantly, South Carolina and Nevada, they need your organizing power. They need your hard work--your canvassing legs, your mouths and hands on the phonebanks, your exuberance and energy.

The firewall against incremental change starts here.

Fighting online is certainly no longer enough--it never was, but never is that truer than now. If ever progressive politicians needed your support, now is the time. Besides, the money race matters to the traditional media as one of the storylines.

Obama thoughts

Part I - Obama's Voice
As an open-minded supporter of Barack Obama, I think the Senator made a critical mistake by telling New Hampshire that if they made him the winner, he'd be the nominee.

There is no question he's a very appealing candidate, but this was like getting a great kiss on the doorstep on a first date and asking your girl to marry you. He should have treated New Hampshire as a second date, an opportunity to get to know each other better. Obama moved too fast, and set the stakes too high. For some people, his voice, a strength a day before, became a weakness. What sounded mellifluous some now heard as just a bit too smooth.

Part II - Hillary's Voice
I also think the shift in the women's vote is much deeper than is being appreciated. I had written that the tears Senator Clinton fought back were about blunted ambition, but I failed to see how deeply many women felt what she felt, because Hillary's ambition is in some ways theirs.

Her tears said, I (we) have a lot to offer this country, and I can't believe that once again, our chance to do so is receding further into the future.

Dr. Phil visits Britney...seriously?

Dr. Phil McGraw's visit with Britney Spears in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was instigated by her family shortly after the pop star was admitted to the facility, the TV therapist confirmed on CBS's The Early Show Monday. Saying he wished to set the record straight, McGraw said, "I went to see Britney at the request of her family, I talked to [her mother] Lynne, I talked to [her father] Jamie, I talked to Bryan, her brother. They were very frustrated that she apparently wasn't going to be held for a longer period of time" ... As for McGraw's entering the picture, he said, "Thursday night, the phone rang, and it was Lynne – and she has a very close relationship with my wife, Robin – and, clearly, she was very upset, which you would expect, as any parent would be." McGraw, who would not discuss specifics of Britney's situation, did say, "I was first contacted by her family over a year ago and have maintained a running dialog with them throughout the last year."

Uh huh ... well, it looks like the love affair is off because, Life & Style reports, Papa Jamie Spears didn't take too kindly to the way that Dr. Phil was trying to exploit his daughter's illness for his own gain:

Britney Spears' dad Jamie Spears has angrily banned the family from any involvement or participation with Dr. Phil's planned Britney-intervention episode, a source linked to Dr. Phil's camp tells Life & Style. "As soon as Jamie realized Dr. Phil was making public statements about Britney, including assessments of her condition, he got angry. He started making phone calls to everybody in the family, telling them not to cooperate with Dr. Phil. Jamie was totally incensed that Dr. Phil—who he knows a little, because Lynne is friends with Dr. Phil's wife—seemed to be using Britney for self-promotion. Dr. Phil had told Jamie everything would be off the record until the show was done."

Spears update

As if Britney Spears' close friends and family didn't have enough to worry about, those close to the pop star reveal they're also fearful that her new beau, photographer Adnan Ghalib, is going to "leak" provocative pictures of the pop star to news outlets. "Photos are already on the market, and although they're tame, who's to say what the next round will hold," said a concerned friend of the pop star. Ghalib (who is married, according to many reports) is said to be brokering a deal via his photo agency, FinalPixx, that could fetch a six-figure sum for shots of himself with Spears. "It's not as if Britney's judgment is very good right now, he could really take advantage of her. Her MTV performance could actually end up looking tasteful, if things go really bad," said one person who has worked with Britney and attempted to help her recently. "We have literally run out of ideas as to what to do to protect Britney," said one person close to the family. "Who knows what will happen next."
